In this website, a lot of information on national parks. And following on Tarutao Marine National Park. This park was established in 1974 and in 1982, has been listed as one of ASEAN Heritage Parks. Tarutao Marine National Park also added to World Heritage in 1990 by UNESCO and is listed on the World Heritage Committee in 1991.

This island has been used at the end of 1930 as a colony for Thailand’s political prisoners. During World War II, when support from the mainland was cut off, guards and prisoners are bound together by the pirates, that the ship sailed through waters near the island. After the pirates from Tarutao eradicated by the British at the end of the war, fishermen and farmers live and stay on the island.
