Bora Bora is in the Leeward group of Society Islands of French Polynesia, an overseas territory of France in the Pacific Ocean. The Bora Bora island located about 230 km (140 miles) north-west of Papeete, is surrounded by a lagoon and barrier reef. In the center of the island are the remains of an extinct volcano rising to two summits, Mount Pahia and Mount Otemanu, the highest point at 727 m.
