Wayang Golek are rod puppets, unique to the Sunda, the western half of Java. They are inseparable carved and painted wooden head, arms and worked to develop costumes. Performances will be held at a low level, narrow wooden stage, the dalang (puppeteer) is located.

Wayang originally meant shadow, but it also means doll or productivity.
Wayang kulit (kulit - skin) is the most famous of Javanese puppet tradition and can be used to describe puppet theatre, with flat puppets, which are made of leather, cast in the shadows on the screen.
