The snow castle, recently opened in the northern town of Kemi, Finland, has a hotel, a restaurant and a chapel located within its thick walls of snow.
Every year, hundreds of thousands of people visit this attractive and original castle and some are even willing to stay in one of the 48 rooms available to the hotel and where is the temperatures of -5C, regardless of outside temperature, which usually varies between -15 and -20C.
Certainly this temperature, the guests have to use sleeping bags in addition to proper thermal clothing. The construction of the castle of 5000 square meters, opened in December and opened its doors on January 30 ago.
Approximately 20,000 square meters of snow are needed to build the castle, while another 100 square meters of ice are used to build tables and sculptures. As we have seen before, it seems that the ice hotels are becoming increasingly popular. (See Ice Hotel in Japan, Hotel under the Sea in Istanbul, Turkey).
