Prambanan Temple
This is the most famous and most beautiful temples in Central Java, or more precisely a complex of temples. Located 15 kilometers from Yogyakarta, the top of the main temple is visible from afar and rises above the ruins of dispersion of ancient temples. Prambanan is the masterpiece of Hindu culture of the tenth century. The slender building rising 47 meters makes its beautiful architecture incomparable. Seventeen kilometers east of Yogyakarta, King Maha Sambu Balitung constructed the Prambanan temple in the middle of the ninth century. Its parapets are decorated with bas-reliefs depicting the famous story of Ramayana. This magnificent temple Shivaite which is derived the name of the village where he is.
Prambanan temple is known locally as the RoRo Jonggrang Temple, or temple of the “Madonna Slim”, is the largest and most beautiful Hindu temple in Indonesia. The Prambanan temple complex is located between green fields and villages. Eight places, including the three largest are dedicated to Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. The main temple of Shiva rises to a height of 130 feet and is home to the magnificent statue of the consort of Shiva, Durga. There are 224 temples in the complex, three of them major temples are Brahma temple in the north, Vishnu Temple in the south, and the largest among the three which lies between Brahma and Vishnu temples is temple Shiva (47 meters tall).
Two rooms were used as temple. Enjoy the sunrise behind the glory of the temple of Prambanan. Visitors must be in place – in the outdoor theater and the archaeological park of the temple – before dawn around 5:00 am. The first outdoor theater was built on the south side of the temple in 1960 and the second was built on the west side of the temple in 1988. During the nights of full moon in May to October, the Ramayana Ballet is performed here. Perhaps one of the most majestic temples in Southeast Asia, Prambanan, attracts many admirers each year from abroad.
