11Jun Perhentian Islands
It comprises of two islands, Pulau Perhentian Kecil, and Pulau Perhentian Besar, gazetted as a Marine Park. Over the past few years, the islands have captured the hearts of many because of their immense natural pristine beauty and amazing diversity of marine life. Fabulous living corals grow profusely on the sea’s floor, a perfect haven for snorkellers, Scuba divers and underwater photographers. For those fortunate enough, you may even catch a glimpse of dolphins and pilot whales playfully swimming in the azure crystal-clear waters, normally in the months of July and August. The months between November and February, being the monsoon period, are best avoided as the seas get somewhat rough and chalet operators tend to close for business and a welcome break to the mainland. The main island offers fantastic stretches of white powdery sands and numerous coves that guarantee privacy and tranquility. The smaller island beckons those with an interest in observing rustic fishing villages.
