Nha Trang: Home residence of service during the Miss Universe contest

From July 7-15, households in Nha Trang city, Khanh Hoa province are authorized to receive passengers. According to local authorities, it is a measure to reduce the surcharge on hotels and guest houses in the city during the Miss Universe 2008 pageant.
The families must meet the conditions in terms of space, equipment, hygiene, security, fire safety etc to accommodate tourists. The local government has also fixed the rates for services stay: VND180,000-250,000 / double room and VND100-150000/single room (with air conditioning or not).
The Khanh Hoa Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism said that only 3-5 star hotels are fully reserved. 1-2 star hotels and guest houses with a total of 6300 rooms are reserved only 40%. Nonetheless, the major events of the Miss Universe contest fast approaching, especially the last day (July 14), the number of tourists arriving at this costal city should be increasingly high.
To ensure stability of prices of services during the event, local authorities are letting the tourism service providers to increase room rates no more than 50% of the average level applied in June 2008.
